Erika was born in 1977 to Rai-Mai Norwegian Elkhound Kennels. She started showing the family Elkhounds at the young age of 4 in the classes and breed ring. At 10, she was also showing in Junior Showmanship. In 1992, Erika decided to branch out to another breed for Juniors, an Afghan Hound. After some time off to complete college and settle into her own life, she again branched into another Breed, an Akita in 2006. And after almost 15 years away, she came back to a breed she loved, the Afghan Hound in 2010. In 2016, after a severe ankle injury, she added Tibetan Spaniels to the family so she could continue to show.

Through the years, Erika earned over 30 championships on the Norwegian Elkhounds, 3 Afghan Hound Championships, Group placements, several Canadian Championships, and a Grand Champion Bronze on a Tibbie. In Juniors, she won top Junior Handler in Norwegian Elkhounds, qualified for Westminster, and represented the State of NJ and Trenton KC at the World Series of Junior Showmanship. She even dabbled in Agility and put a Novice Agility title on an Elkhound. She even earned a spot on the Animal Planet’s Zig and Zag: Alpha Dog Challenge as a contestant with her agility dog.

Erika and her dogs currently live in Leesburg, VA. She has been a member of numerous breed clubs and served on the Board. She is a member of the Afghan Hound Club of America and the Potomac Valley Tibetan Spaniel Club. She is an approved AKC judge for Norwegian Elkhounds, Afghans, and Junior Showmanship. She is provisional for Salukis, Akitas, Ibizan Hound, and Bloodhound. Her goal is to acquire the entire Hound and Working groups.
